lyrics

Well I’m leaning on a lamppost again,
And I feel like I’m whispering in Manhattan.
Looking down at my only friend,
And even he’s saying to me…
‘You’re chasing a rainbow you’ll never reach,
Don’t you know, we’ve spun our last speech?’
Well I wished it seemed that way to me,
I wish it seemed that way.

And you always seem to catch me in-between those words,
I wonder do you still see the sparkle in my eye?

But I’m back barking in the dark again,
And I’ll let these strings carry my tears.
‘Cause even the moon and your smile,
Seem like nothing but pity to me.
And I’m trapped in that ‘eternal circle’ that he sang about,
And it makes no difference if I whisper or shout.
And I don’t see a rainbow that can pull me out,
You know, I used to know a rainbow.

And you always seem to catch me in-between those words,
I wonder do you still see the sparkle in my eye?

Well I’m leaning on a lamppost again,
And I feel like I’m whispering in Manhattan.
I feel like I’m whispering…
